So we armed ourselves with an International Student Identity Card (ISIC), which offers substantial savings on rail passes, plane tickets, and entrance fees. I just took the train in May from Berlin to Amsterdam. I booked about 2 months in advance. We had a direct Amsterdam train (stops but no changes) I paid not much each plus 2euro for seat reservation.
