Holidays in Seychelles

Seychelles — an isolated archipelago of 115 islands located in the western Indian Ocean northeast of Madagascar. Located in these places countless beaches with silver-white sand considered to be one of the best in the world. The islands are known for their exotic nature and original cuisine and vacation spots.
Holidays in Seychelles is ideal for romantics, and for those who enjoy extreme sports. The climate on the islands is tropical monsoon, with many sunny days a year - ideal conditions for surfing, windsurfing, scuba diving, spearfishing, water skiing or canoeing and much more.

There is no official classification of hotels in the Seychelles, so tour operators evaluate hotels themselves, giving them conditional three, four or five stars. Most hotels in the country are bungalows or low-rise housing on the beach. All beaches are municipal. In addition, each hotel has its own beach area, although this does not necessarily mean that you’ll meet on the beach only tourists from your hotel.

Mahe - the largest island of the Seychelles archipelago, an area of 150 square kilometers. On the island of Mahe is the capital of the country - Victoria (among other things, the smallest capital in the world). In Victoria, there are only two traffic lights throughout the archipelago, and in addition, is the only city in the Seychelles. All other settlements are villages and small towns. There are restaurants, souvenir shops and stores.

The main tourist area of the island is on its northern coast — a beach Beau Vallone, the largest resort in the Seychelles. Along the beach strip are hotels, whose number is greater here than anywhere else in the Seychelles. All the large hotels have night discos, and some even a casino.

Sandy beaches on Mahe offer a variety of entertainment - diving, windsurfing and sailing. From the port of Victoria, tourists can go fishing to catch tuna, tiger sharks and other exotic fish. The most beautiful beach of the island is Anse Intendanse - big sandy arc, bordered by coconut palms.

The most popular tours that are organized to Mahe - the National Marine Park St.Anna, which is directly opposite the beach Beau Vallone a few hundred meters from the shore (coral, various species of fish and the unique nature). There is also an excursion to the island of Fregate, located 12 minute flight from Mahe (with the island connected to all the stories about pirates and hidden treasures) and many other small islands in the Seychelles archipelago.

La Digue - an island 43 km from Mahe (20 minutes by helicopter). Its size is only 3 to 5 km. La Digue has a couple of dozen hotels, restaurants and a fairly wide selection of private apartments. Hotels and restaurants are concentrated near the beaches, and private apartments are located in the central part of the island. This resort is perfect for complete relaxation of civilization: it’s almost no cars, the main transport - a bicycle and ox-sled.

The main advantages of La Digue - beautiful beaches and unspoilt nature. On some beaches of coral sand has a pinkish color. Here you’ll see good opportunities for diving, snorkeling, surfing and windsurfing. In this case, you need only remember the strong underwater currents, which occur in some places. The main attraction of the island - villa, where the shooting took place the famous film "Emmanuelle". Also here is a working factory, which produces copra and coconut oil on the technology that has developed in the XVIII century and almost unchanged to this day.
Natural attractions that can boast of such an island - several unique species of birds are found only here, two species of marine turtles, and tropical vegetation (orchids, vanilla, several species of palms, hibiscus and many others).

The island of Praslin is the second largest island of the archipelago, and covers an area of 26 square kilometers. It’s surrounded by coral reefs and well protected from ocean waves and marine predators. Resort areas are concentrated in the eastern coastal area. On Praslin is well developed tourist infrastructure: there are hotels, shops and even car rentals.

The Island boasts sandy beaches, of which several are included in the top ten beaches in the world. Surfing, diving, snorkeling, excursions to other islands and on the Aldabra atoll (the largest coral atoll in the world) — that's the main range of entertainment for tourists.

On the island of Praslin is May Valley — a unique nature reserve, one of two objects in the Seychelles, listed in the UNESCO World Heritage List. It’s home to unique species of birds such as black cockatoos and Bulbul. In addition, it’s the only place on Earth where the wild growing pride in the Seychelles — fan palm, whose fruit are considered the largest in the world. Great pleasure to bring a bicycle or walking tour of the island.

Currency can be exchanged at hotels or local banks. Banks in the Seychelles are open from 8.30 am to 14.30 Monday to Friday and Saturday — from 8.30 to 11.00. The Seychelles is recommended to bring American dollars or traveler's checks in that currency, since the local rupee can’t be used by tourists to pay for rent of housing, excursions, as well as in restaurants. Recommend to exchange a small amount of money upon arrival at the airport of Victoria, located on the island of Mahe.

Indicative exchange rate:
10 SCR = 0,89 USD
10 SCR = 0,64 EUR

Difficult to imagine what we can expect in the Seychelles: The country is absolutely safe and the locals are friendly and good-natured, and not numerous police copes with its responsibilities. So you can stick to just basic security measures - for example, don’t drink unboiled water and not to try unfamiliar foods.
